Animal marking services

The insertion of a microchip into an animal is a quick, safe, and painless procedure performed under the skin between the shoulder blades. Using a special syringe, the microchip is inserted like a regular injection. The procedure takes only a few seconds, and the microchip remains effective for the entire life of the animal. After insertion, the animal is registered in a database to ensure its identification in case of loss or theft.

The Begemotas veterinary clinic tags all domestic animals.

After the microchip has been inserted, the pet must be registered in the pet registry. Registration is carried out at the clinic; only after the necessary documents have been completed do we register the pet in the Animal Pet Registry.

Only a registered microchip allows the animal to be identified in case of loss, theft, or travel. This is an important step in responsible animal care and legal protection.

A European pet passport is issued at a veterinary clinic when the animal is microchipped and receives the mandatory rabies vaccination. This document contains the most important information about the animal, vaccinations, and information necessary for travel. The passport allows you to legally travel with your pet throughout the European Union and ensures compliance with veterinary requirements. This is an important document for every responsible pet owner who travels.

Following the adoption of amendments to the Animal Welfare and Protection Law by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, mandatory microchipping and registration of pets – dogs, cats, and ferrets – in the Pet Register came into effect on May 1, 2021.

Universal microchipping of pets is currently applied in most European Union countries.

This means that you can obtain a European pet passport for your animal at a veterinary clinic, which will allow your pet to travel abroad easily and freely.

Arranging travel documents for your pet is an important step when preparing to travel abroad. Although traveling within the European Union may seem simple, each country may have different additional requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to consult with a veterinarian who will help you prepare all the necessary documents and ensure that your pet’s vaccinations and internal and external parasite treatments meet the travel requirements. By taking care of the formalities properly, your trip will be smooth and you will have peace of mind about your pet’s safety.
