About endoscopy

An endoscope is a medical device in the form of a tube with an optical system and a light source, allowing for a detailed examination of organs from the inside and the detection of changes in the mucous membrane. This procedure allows the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, or colon to be examined without open surgical intervention, and the nasopharynx, trachea, and upper bronchi to be examined through the nasal cavity.

Endoscopy is also frequently used in veterinary medicine to quickly and safely remove swallowed foreign objects when a pet ingests inedible items.

If your pet suffers from a persistent cough or is suspected of having asthma, bronchoscopy is a very important procedure that allows for a thorough examination of the bronchi and airways and the identification of possible problems such as inflammation, foreign bodies, or other respiratory diseases.

Cost of veterinary endoscopy

The cost of endoscopy in veterinary medicine depends on several factors:

01.Types of endoscopy

The price depends on the type of endoscopy, e.g., gastroscopy (digestive tract), bronchoscopy (respiratory tract), or cystoscopy (bladder). Different types of endoscopy require different equipment and procedures, so prices may vary.

02.Complexity of the procedure

More complex endoscopies that require longer examinations or special techniques may be more expensive. For example, if biopsies need to be taken or therapeutic interventions performed, the cost may be higher.

03.Need for anesthesia

Animals are usually anesthetized during endoscopy. The type, amount, and duration of anesthesia affect the overall cost of the procedure.

04.Diagnostic tests

If additional diagnostic tests are required before or after endoscopy, such as blood tests, X-rays, or ultrasounds, these costs may also contribute to the total price.

05.Post-procedural monitoring

If additional care, medication, or follow-up visits are required after the endoscopy, these costs will also contribute to the total price.
