About the services
Animal euthanasia is the act of putting an animal to sleep. Animal euthanasia is a medically sound, humane way to end an animal’s suffering when an incurable disease or pain prevents it from enjoying a good quality of life. The decision to euthanize is usually made together with a veterinarian, after considering all medical and ethical aspects. Although this is a very emotional process, it allows you to say goodbye to your pet calmly and with dignity.
It is very important to understand that euthanasia is a process designed to ease the suffering of an animal that is seriously ill or suffering from a life-threatening disease. According to Lithuanian law, it is illegal to euthanize a healthy animal.
Euthanasia for pets is performed after first inducing general anesthesia. The pet feels no pain or discomfort during euthanasia.
Cremation of animals is an ethical and humane way to say goodbye to your pet. The Begemotas Veterinary Medical Center cooperates with the only pet crematorium in Lithuania, located in Tauragė. In difficult times, the veterinary clinic is ready to take care of all the details of cremation, from transferring the pet for cremation to returning the ashes to the former owner.
In order to reduce stress for both the pet and the owner, the Begemotas Veterinary Medical Center provides a home euthanasia service. Upon arrival at the home, the veterinarian will provide all the necessary information to the pet owner and perform all the necessary procedures for the seriously ill animal.
The veterinarian and assistant will take care of your pet just as well as they would at the clinic.
