Dermatological procedures
Veterinary dermatological problems are one of the most common reasons why owners visit the vet. The skin often reacts to various internal and external irritants, so even minor symptoms—such as itching or licking—can be the beginning of more serious health problems.
One of the first signs that your pet’s skin is damaged is itching. If you notice that your dog or cat is frequently scratching, licking, biting, or rubbing certain areas of its body, this may be a clear sign of skin irritation.
Other worrying symptoms:
- Increased appetite
- Red, irritated, or bald skin
- Sores or wet areas
- Suspicious skin growths or changes
If you notice any of these signs, you should not delay and consult a veterinary dermatologist.
The specialists at the Begemotas Veterinary Clinic use a wide range of dermatological tests to accurately determine the cause of the problem and prescribe effective treatment:
- Cytological and microscopic examinations
- Bacteriological and mycological examinations (for skin and ear infections)
- Skin scraping examinations
- Biopsy analysis
- Trichoscopy (examination of hair and skin structure)
- Digital otoscopy (ear examination)
- Endocrinological and allergological examinations
Skin diseases are caused by various factors:
- External – parasites, improper coat care, foreign bodies in the skin
- Internal – allergies, endocrine disorders, kidney or liver disease
Skin problems are often a manifestation of other systemic diseases, so it is important not only to treat the symptoms, but also to look for the underlying causes. Untreated skin diseases can progress and require long, complex treatment.

Cost of veterinary dermatology services
When consulting a veterinary dermatologist, the price depends on several factors that make up the total cost. At the Begemotas Veterinary Clinic, these factors may include:
This includes a dermatological examination and assessment of the condition of the animal's skin and coat.
If the dermatologist determines that additional tests are necessary, such as skin biopsies, microscopic examinations, blood tests, or allergy tests, these tests will be charged separately.
The treatment plan may include medications such as antibiotics, corticosteroids, antihistamines, or special shampoos, as well as a specialized diet if necessary. Medications and specialized products may add to the cost.
After the initial assessment, follow-up and control visits may be necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and perform additional tests.
If the animal requires special procedures, such as skin surgery or laser therapy, these services will be charged additionally.
