FAQ

Frequently asked questions

If your dog vomited the tablet within the first two hours, the active ingredients probably weren’t absorbed and the dose may need repeating. If more time has passed, the product has usually already taken effect. Either way, consult your veterinarian before giving a second tablet – don’t double the dose on your own.

NexGard Spectra starts killing fleas within a few hours and ticks within 24 hours of administration. It works against internal parasites with the same dose. Full protection lasts 4 weeks, so the tablet needs repeating monthly.

NexGard Spectra treats roundworms but not tapeworms. Broader coverage is usually needed before annual vaccination, so your veterinarian may prescribe an additional product. Mention that you’re planning vaccinations when you book – we’ll coordinate both in a single visit.

NexGard Spectra must not be given to dogs with known hypersensitivity to afoxolaner, milbemycin oxime or any other ingredient. Treatment of puppies younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg is assessed individually by the veterinarian. The product is for dogs only – it must not be given to cats.

NexGard Spectra works against ticks, fleas, ear mites, chewing lice and the skin parasites that cause demodicosis and sarcoptic mange. Among internal parasites, it treats roundworms and is used for heartworm prevention.
